Back in grade school, the day was started every morning with little hands over little hearts as the pledge of allegiance was recited by a bunch of little voices. There was a time where â€Å"Under God† was just as fluent to a child as saying â€Å"Can I have†¦Ã¢â‚¬  while in a store or â€Å"I don’t want to† when asked to clean their room. Every attempt at removing the reference to God within the pledge of allegiance has failed so far but some schools have made changes accordingly without the laws changing. However, within the school system I attended, they just stopped reciting it all together in order to avoid future conflicts. More and more over the years the battle of separating church from state has been a leading controversy. But what’s the big deal? What makes this separation between religion and schools so important? These are questions that have fueled the fire behind the battle and continues to help keep a flame. By separating church from state, it is teaching respect for diversity and allowing religious freedom that has been a part of the nation’s legacy for so long. By definition religion is a â€Å"specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects† (Dictionary.com, 2014). Although there are many religions that are more popular and larger than some, the actual possibilities of a specific religion are endless. Lord of the flies is about leadership and how evil lies beneath every human. Leadership is important because it provides an inspirational figure to lead groups of people towards great accomplishments. A good leader should have the ability to stand up and lead the group to success. On the other hand, a bad leader is cruel and only thinks about himself. The best leader on the island is Ralph, followed by Jack and then Piggy. To begin, Ralph is the best leader on the island. Ralph is an excellent leader because he is most concerned about order, civility and he does not give up. In chapter 2, Fire on the Mountain, Ralph said, â€Å" If we have a signal fire going they will come and take us off. And another thing. We ought to have more rules. Where the conch is, that is a meeting† (Golding 42). Ralph knew that order was falling apart so he decided to have some more rules. Question: Describe about the Food Consciousness for Teaching Critical Theory. Answer: Part 1: The source of the story is the eminent novel The Gastronomical Me written by M.H.K.Fisher. In the story, the writer speaks of a huge variety of food items prepared by her mother and grandmother, on several, small occasions during her childhood days (Counihan Esterick). As the speaker walks down her memory lane she recollects how her mother and grandmother would cook dainty dishes, and how the irresistible aroma of the food items, would entice her as a child. Part 2: My sister has been too fond of different kinds of food, and thus she loved preparing new dishes on every weekend. Suddenly, one Sunday, she dusted off the pressure cooker, and decided to apply her cooking skills. She was highly determined to cook dainty steaks, and accordingly she placed the steak on the pan, marinated all its sides with olive oil, and fried it deep. Once the golden brown steaks were being distributed, she was highly praised by my mother and grandfather. Again, another day, as her friends were coming for a home party, she decided to surprise them, by cooking on her own. She was barely 15 at that time, and as she started dipping the chicken in the egg mixture and buttermilk, the crispy pieces of grilled chicken started looking too delicious. Once the lime juice and the ketchup were added, the crispy yet mellow chicken won huge applause among her friends. By the time, she turned 18, she earned so much popularity among her friends and family, that they would refer her t o be the cook of the house. The stuffed camel, Al Machboos, Al Harees are some of the traditional dishes that my sister was equally adept in cooking. While our families would organize picnics, my sister would only be chosen to cook all the dainty, mouth-watering dishes. Once we went to a restaurant, and ordered an extremely delicious bowl of tomato basil soup and Turtle bread. The taste of the turtle bread impressed her so much, that it aroused in her a natural inquisitiveness and enthusiasm to cook the dish on the very next day itself.
